KLIMT

Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was an Austrian painter. He started his studies in Vienna School of Arts and Crafts, where he learned and developed an academic and classic style, common in his period. But in the period of avant-gardes, Klimt wanted to look for an own style. He founded the Vienna Secession, an alternative movement for the traditional school.

Style…

He is not a realistic painter. He uses female models mainly and converts here bodies in decorative images. He uses the forms in little pieces like a ceramic mosaic. He uses paint with plates of gold for to create shine.

I like Klimt because, visually is too attractive for the use of color and the forms and because the theme of his painting is the beauty of woman, but not of a classic form, he explores the eroticism, but too the innocence… young women, mother women, old women.

Klimt is capable to mix the visual beauty with the beauty of the women, but doing a critic of the superficial decorative beauty, the women under appearance…

For finish, one of my favourites painting of this painter: "The three ages of women"
